It stimulates beta-catenin degradation by stabilizing axin, the concentration-limiting component of the destruction complex and stabilizes axin by inhibiting the poly-ADP-ribosylating enzymes tankyrase 1 (TNKS1) and tankyrase 2 (TNKS2).
