Pudong Airport launches mini-fire stations
Released:2018-11-30
Seven mini-fire stations were set up recently in the two terminals at Pudong International Airport (PVG).
These fire stations are distributed in a symmetrical triangular pattern, covering the two terminals and the corridors between them. They will enable emergency responses to fires, as the first five minutes of a fire are the most important in terms of saving lives and controlling the fire.
As an effective supplement to PVG’s fire emergency rescue force, the mini-fire stations will give full play to their motility and flexibility. Once a fire alarm goes off, the crews in the stations will arrive at the scene within 3-5 minutes and carry out firefighting and rescue before the arrival of full-time fire brigades.
The mini-fire stations have 42 crew members, and each station has two people on duty 24 hours a day.
All members are equipped with a special vest with devices for firefighting, demolition, lighting, warning, telecommunications and personal protection. The vest is portal and can be put on in two seconds.
The firefighters are selected from rounds of comprehensive assessment and competition in firefighting knowledge and skills, as well as having finished a two-month- training program, which offers not only cross-disciplinary knowledge but also practical techniques in fire control and rescue.
