From November 22 to 24, the 2022 North Bund Forum co-hosted by the Ministry of Transport and Shanghai Municipal People's Government took place in Shanghai. Experts from different sectors and all parts of the industrial chain around the world gathered together to conduct exchanges on "Green, Intelligent and Resilient Global Shipping & Aviation through Global Partnerships". They talked about maritime policies, shared key achievements and expressed their will to write the new chapter for the sustainable development of international shipping industry together.
On November 23, Huang Heng, General Manager of Nezha Technology, was invited to attend the sub-forum of “Intelligent Shipping” which was initiated by Yicai Financial News. Xu Kai, CIO of Shanghai International Shipping Institute and Master's Supervisor of Shanghai Maritime University, Lu Xusheng, Director of Innovation Center, COSCO Shipping Technology Co., Ltd., and Yao Su, General Manager of WorldEx Supply Chain Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. shared their insights on how digitalization can empower intelligent operation of port and shipping industry.
General Manager Huang first reviewed the history of port development and pointed out that at present era, smart port is a more advanced form of port informationalization after the information port, digital port and intelligent port. The key of smart port and shipping operation lies in the efficient digitalization of the entire chain, which is supported by network technology that features high-speed and low-latency. The wide construction of IOT has deeply promoted the high-quality development of the port and shipping industry, constantly improved the intelligence level of containers and laid the intelligent basis for the port to evolve into a higher level of intelligence.
At the end of his speech, General Manager Huang talked about the importance of blockchain technology to the shipping industry. He suggested that, China’s shipping market is huge and promising for the application of blockchain, which holds a vital position in the global chain of blockchain. The entire industry should utilize blockchain technology to build a new mechanism of trust, help reduce operation costs of the shipping industry, and improve efficiency and returns. In this way, various parties will be able to engage in more efficient and effective cooperation in a more open and transparent data environment, which will form a new and strong driver for the recovery of global economy and the cooperation of international trade.
